Smithers firmly believe concrete is no longer the poor relation of design—it’s the new cool kid at the party. Who knew concrete could be sexy?! Turns out, we did. This is fifty shades of the grey stuff done right: sleek, rebellious, and strangely sophisticated.
Dare to Dabble in the Dark Art of Concrete Chic
It’s so easy to over complicate things in life but this simple collection laughs in the face of complicated. When we dare to dabble with new grey trends – which happens a lot at Smithers, it’s always interesting to witness how it is received. We had concrete down as a male dominant ‘marmite’ collection, but we couldn’t have been more wrong, and on this rare occasion, we were happy to be proved so! Turns out concrete is completely unisex, not to mention hugely versatile and ridiculously rustic.
Concrete Planter Table:Where Green Dreams Grow in Grey Stone
Summer belonged to our Concrete Planter Table. Why? Because it’s basically a city park in miniature. A lush oasis of greenery sunk into sharp, sculptural grey lines. Think Central Park meets Shoreditch rooftop. The irony? Concrete wrapped in foliage inside your garden—it flips the script, and we love clever contradictions like that.

Concrete Magazine Rack– Bring the Urban Edge Indoors
This isn’t just a magazine rack, it’s a love letter to the city. Clients tuck it into lofts, studios, and converted factories because it oozes that metropolitan vibe. As one customer renovating her Derbyshire factory told us: “I love the city—and now I can bring its urban style home.” That’s the mood: City meets Cotswolds, and everyone wins.

Concrete Face Plant Pots – Garden Personality with an Urban Edge
Concrete doesn’t just belong on your dining table or bathroom floor—it belongs in the garden too. Our concrete face plant pots bring a playful twist to patios, courtyards, and terraces.
Hand-carved in Indonesia, each pot is a one-off masterpiece, designed to hold everything from leafy greens to bold blooms. They’re durable, weather-resistant, and dripping with quirky character. Plant some personality, and let your garden grin back at you.
From Great Walls to Great Rooms – The Urban Concrete Connection
Patios? Construction sites? Forget all that. This is rebellion. Concrete indoors is the ugly duckling turned swan—the rough, raw outsider reinvented as refined, industrial chic. If a nondescript material can rise to centre-stage stardom, then that’s the best design story out there.
Concrete Wallpaper:– Dress Your Walls in Raw Attitude
Bored of beige? Our Concrete Wallpaper brings big-city boldness to any wall. Sleek cement textures, urban grit, effortless installation—it’s a decorator’s dream. Ideal for restaurants, retail, or penthouse living. Why go ordinary when you can go extraordinary?

Step into the world of modern design with our innovative concrete dining table. The sleek and urban-inspired table sets the stage for the true showstopper.
Imagine this: You’re hosting a dinner party for eight, and your guests are captivated by the bold and striking presence of our concrete dining table. With its large size and durable construction, it’s not just a piece of furniture – it’s a conversation starter.
Nuclear Power Plant Planter– Industrial Icons Reborn
I’m equally drawn to the inspiration behind some of the pieces. The Nuke Planter pays homage to the iconic Cooling Towers of the Nuclear Power Stations that I recall driving by as a kid when making the never ending journey to some random day out up the A1. Glued to my window, I’d watch the colossal puffs of grey smoke billow their way up to the even greyer skies.

Not all concrete belongs at the dinner table. Some of it smiles back at you from the garden wall. Our concrete face garden sculpture brings a playful twist to the collection—hand-carved in Indonesia, weather-resistant, and brimming with personality.
This sun-kissed piece doesn’t just hang there; it beams character into patios, courtyards, and outdoor dining spots. Equal parts rustic charm and urban cool, it proves concrete doesn’t have to be serious to make a statement.

Concrete Bat– Luxury Gets Its Hands Dirty
This isn’t just a concrete bath, it’s a centre-piece. Smooth, sculptural, handmade from cement. Industrial chic meets five-star indulgence. Forget porcelain—this is a bath that makes people talk.
How Concrete Becomes Cool – The Smithers Process
It starts with sand, water, and cement. Add fibreglass, pour into moulds, leave to cure. Three weeks later, sealed with invisible protection, it’s transformed from raw liquid to refined masterpiece. Not rocket science—but it feels like alchemy.

Bespoke Concrete Furniture – If You Can Dream It, We Can Cast It
The furniture is then removed from its tooling and placed in a humidity stable room for three weeks. Once the drying out stage is fully complete, all items are sealed with invisible water and coat of clear oil repellant. Hardly brain surgery, but once this simple process is done, the steps towards creating a masterpiece can finally begin.

Custom Concrete Furniture:
I suppose another huge plus with the Concrete Furniture Collection is pretty much anything can be made even a freestanding concrete bathtub. – Were not quite at Hoover Dam standard yet, but as long as it can be moulded it can be made bespoke. Naturally different mortars will provide different finishes but we believe touch is equally important. We are a nation of feelers if you’ll pardon the turn of phrase. True though, and the gropers amongst us won’t be disappointed with the hands on experience provided by the cement products. Huge care is taken in offering the perfect texture. For example, the concrete bar stool – sides are left purposefully rough for distinction, yet the seat is uber-smooth and the polished finish is the cherry, on the icing, on the cake!
The Bottom Line – Grey Has Never Looked This Good
When alls said and done, the bottomline is its just cool. And different. And neat. Who doesn’t love neat? Even the rebels are neat freaks, deep down. But mostly, it’s super cool, and if liking Concrete makes me cool, well that’s just fine with me.
