From the balcony of the<\/strong> Punch & Judy pub<\/strong><\/a> to the glow of the Apple Store stage in London\u2019s<\/a> Covent Garden<\/strong>, Mr. S remained unshaken\u2014even on a grim, gusty day\u2014buoyed by a storm of good fortune blowing in from all directions. The latest gust? A front-row moment at the Red Carpet Fancy event inside that iconic Apple space. A slick affair, decked out with some properly famous faces\u2014Ciara<\/strong><\/a> turned heads, and JME<\/strong><\/a> (we wonder if he enjoys being called Skepta<\/a>\u2019s brother)<\/strong> brought the vibe.<\/p>\n

Smithers held court. London style. No filters. Just real talk and even realer design.<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

Fancy That \u2013 From Collaboration to Centre Stage<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The excitement\u2019s got me buzzing\u2014I\u2019m not even sure where to begin. But let\u2019s keep it classic and start at the top.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been partnering with Fancy for a while now, and truth be told, it\u2019s been an absolute blast. So when Joe dropped me a line asking if I\u2019d speak at their UK event, I didn\u2019t hesitate.
“Yeah,” I thought. “I fancy<\/em> that.”<\/p>\n

Fancy Shopping \u2013 Retro Love Meets App Royalty<\/em><\/h2>\n

Joe Einhorn<\/a>\u2014the sharp mind behind the Fancy shopping app\u2014has been on a mission, taking his stylish retail revolution global.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s been hosting a slick series of events, complete with guest speakers (yours truly included), where I got to bang on about my love affair with all things retro. Add a few famous faces to the mix, and only the coolest cities on the map\u2014London<\/a>, obviously\u2014and you’ve got a recipe for retail magic.<\/p>\n

From the Big Apple to Blighty \u2013 Fancy Goes Global<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Naturally, with Apple hosting, the first stop had to be the Big Apple. Joe kicked things off in New York with none other than Emily Ratajkowski<\/a>\u2014model, actress, and yes<\/em>, Blurred Lines<\/em> icon. You get the vibe.<\/p>\n

Next stop? Paris, with the effortlessly cool Zendaya<\/a> along for the ride. And finally, the Fancy tour touched down in our own beloved glory town\u2014London.<\/p>\n

Set inside the world\u2019s largest Apple Store, Mrs. Smithers and I rocked up to Covent Garden in style. Though not before we spent a few bizarre hours being chased through London Bridge by zombies. No, seriously. Zombies. Full throttle.<\/p>\n

Pint-Sized Panic Before Showtime<\/em><\/h2>\n

In my head, I was Rick. Obviously.<\/p>\n

But as the reality crept in, so did the nerves. So we ducked into The Punch and Judy Covent Garden<\/strong> for a couple pints of Dutch courage. From the pub\u2019s balcony, I watched the crowds roll in\u2014hundreds of effortlessly cool kids pouring into that glass temple of Apple brilliance.<\/p>\n

And there I was, wondering\u2026 why the hell did I agree to this? I’m a wannabe hermit, not a headline act!<\/p>\n

Too late. The hour was upon us. Or rather\u2014upon me<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Behind the Green Door<\/em><\/h2>\n

I\u2019ve never set foot in a Green Room before\u2014well, not legally<\/em>, anyway.
I could spill what goes on behind those mysterious (and surprisingly white) walls, but then I\u2019d have to kill you.<\/p>\n

All I remember is this: I walked in feeling like Rocky… and walked out feeling more Pee-wee Herman.<\/p>\n

\n

Ciara, Cubes & Casual Legends<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

To be fair, it was all wonderfully low-key and welcoming. Joe was his usual charming self and introduced us to tech royalty MC JME\u2014armed with a Rubik\u2019s Cube<\/strong><\/a>, of course. I\u2019ve never figured those bloody things out.<\/p>\n

We met Jack and Joachim from the Fancy crew, proper gents. And just as I was starting to relax, in glided Ciara<\/strong>\u2014graceful, polished, absolute goddess energy, entourage in tow.
Will I ever have an entourage? Probably not. Wife and kids don\u2019t count, do they?<\/p>\n

\n

Showtime Madness<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

Everyone backstage was warm and chatty, but then came that<\/em> call: time to hit the stage.<\/p>\n

Four panel rocking chairs<\/a>. A sea of terrifyingly stylish Gen Z energy. My knees knocking like faulty plumbing.<\/p>\n

It all felt wildly surreal\u2014part fever dream, part career milestone. As I took my seat to whoops and claps, I braced myself for the inevitable moment when security would realise I\u2019d snuck in.<\/p>\n

\n

The Gospel of Fancy, According to Joe<\/em><\/h2>\n

Joe kicked off like the pro he is\u2014calm, slick, cool as ever.<\/p>\n

He spoke about Fancy with the kind of conviction only a founder can. It’s not about what you need. It’s about what you want<\/em>. And once you want it enough… well, now it\u2019s a need, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

Fancy\u2019s about celebrating the weird, the wonderful, the slightly bonkers. It\u2019s a digital treasure trove for people who get it<\/em>\u2014and now, thankfully, you can actually buy it too.<\/p>\n

\n

Squeaky Bum Time<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Then Joe dropped the Smithers<\/a> name. The spotlight swung. All eyes on me. Time to talk.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d written a speech. Delivered, maybe, eight words of it.<\/p>\n

The rest? Freestyle panic. Somehow I babbled through what felt like three hours (it was seven minutes). I definitely heard laughter\u2014with<\/em> me, I think. When I admitted it was my first time public speaking, the crowd gave me a round of applause\u2026 and I swear someone let out a cheeky wolf whistle.<\/p>\n

Clearly, humble chaos has its charm.<\/p>\n

JME Skepta’s Brother<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

JME was up next and obviously a lot more laid back than I was. Like a pro he\u00a0chatted easily about his love of Fancy, sell out gigs, successful siblings in the\u00a0form of sister Julie, one of three lead DJ’s for Apples radio station Beats 1 and of\u00a0course brother and successful rapper, ”Skepta<\/a><\/span>” (their parents gotta be pretty chuffed)\u00a0and not forgetting a slight hint of denial when it came to his possible marriage\u00a0nuptials next year!<\/p>\n

Ciara, Accents & a Bit of Vin Diesel on the Side<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ciara slid into the spotlight and absolutely owned the room\u2014effortless, elegant, and just the right amount of cheek. She even gave a British accent a go, which frankly came across clearer than my own ramblings.<\/p>\n

She gave a little plug for her latest track, Paint It Black<\/em>\u2014a bold Rolling Stones cover\u2014and spoke about all things Fancy with genuine sparkle. By the end of it, the room was smitten. So was I.<\/p>\n

Though let\u2019s be honest\u2014she\u2019s clearly having a week. One minute chatting with Smithers in Covent Garden, the next being papped alongside Vin Diesel for The Last Witch Hunter<\/em> promo.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s living the dream.<\/strong><\/em>
Smithers on Monday. Vin on Friday. Not bad, eh?<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

An Amazing Ride\u2026 and a Six-Foot Fork<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

As the spotlight shifted and the Q&A kicked in, I finally found my rhythm\u2014though how I ended up talking about our infamous six-foot fork, I\u2019ll never know.<\/p>\n

What really floored me was the response after the event. People stuck around, shook my hand, and had lovely things to say about Smithers. Humbled doesn\u2019t even cut it. It was mad, magical, and totally surreal.<\/p>\n

And let\u2019s be honest\u2014there\u2019s no better way to come down from all that glitz than with a proper burger and a pint at Sophie\u2019s round the corner. Now that\u2019s<\/em> real.<\/p>\n

\n

From Red Carpets to Rattling Bones<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

Speaking of real… things have taken a spooky turn back at Smithers HQ. The Halloween rush is in full swing, and the freaky favourites are flying off the shelves.<\/p>\n

One standout? Our beloved bony pal, Mr. Mort Ality\u2014the anatomical full size bronze skeleton<\/a> model with serious character. He recently made his way to Texas<\/a>, of all places, and he\u2019s been getting rave reviews. Creepy enough for October, stylish enough for all year round. That\u2019s the Smithers way.<\/p>\n

Potterheads & Peculiar Pieces<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

For all you Gryffindor wannabes, our Harry Potter Potions Box<\/em> is pure wizardry. An absolute must-have this Halloween, it\u2019s the perfect centrepiece for serving blood-curdling brews or ghoul-tastic snacks. Magic never looked this good.<\/p>\n

And if you\u2019re after something a little darker\u2014The Skull Tidy<\/a><\/em> is your guy. Equal parts eerie and functional, this bony beauty is ideal for stashing your keys, phone, or other bits you\u2019d rather not have haunting your sideboard.<\/p>\n

I love a good trick, but these? These are all about the treats<\/em>\u2014especially if you\u2019re hunting down the perfect Halloween gift for men<\/a> with taste.<\/p>\n

From Ghouls to Gifts \u2013 The Festive Season Beckons<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

I hate to say it\u2014but all of the above make cracking<\/em> gifts for men<\/a> too.<\/p>\n

Yes, I\u2019ve said it. The dreaded C-word.
Christmas is creeping in, and like it or not, Smithers is already deep in festive mode.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re talking vintage-style ride-ons, smoking robots, and retro skateboards so colourful they\u2019d make Santa trade in his sleigh. It\u2019s all going in our letter to the big man\u2014so you\u2019d best start being nice and get yourself off that Naughty List sharpish.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, get your ghoul on for the 31st, light a few bangers with ole Guy Fawkes on the 5th, and keep an eye out\u2014we\u2019ve got more retro brilliance coming your way very soon.<\/p>\n
