Its good isn\u2019t it? I\u2019m just waiting for the day when I\u2019m stopped in the supermarket, which could be any day now thanks to my daughter telling all and sundry her Daddy\u2019s famous), and making some exciting plans with the Smithers team that may be of interest to you lovely lot. Now I must admit, these plans aren\u2019t my idea, but the sun is shining, I\u2019m in a good mood and the team have taken full advantage of this rare opportunity, so here we are. Smithers often receive emails and phone calls asking where our shop is? I would like to clarify we are, as of yet to go down the bona-fide shop route (give it time) but have always tried to provide a professional space for occasional private viewings when a requested and also we have done a few <strong>pop up shops in London<\/strong>. Well my friends, in true Willy Wonka fashion, I\u2019m unlocking the gates and throwing open the doors to my beloved Smithers of Stamford HQ! Well, barn doors at any rate. That\u2019s right good people of the world, for one weekend only we are to host a Smithers<strong> Pop Up Shop<\/strong> Barn Sale where you can peruse at your leisure, see the goods in the flesh and even queue up for a Mr Smithers autograph. Go with it please, I may never get my five minutes of fame ever again. Having said that, you can\u2019t beat buying a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithersofstamford.com\"><strong>unique<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>furniture<\/strong><\/a> with a <strong>TV appearance<\/strong> under its belt. Think of the value increase over the years \u2013 it practically pays for itself!!<br \/>\nWe hope you will feel extremely welcome to join us at our Smithers <strong>pop up shop<\/strong> Barn Sale \u2013 mi casa, tu casa. Although, if your dog craps on my lawn, I will expect you to pick it up and any small children left unattended will be sold to the circus. I\u2019m joking. Or am i?!<br \/>\nYou should all know by now that I\u2019m a proud Stamfordian through and through and whilst I hope lots of our lovely locals support the event, it would be great to meet some new faces from further afield. I like to think I\u2019m something of a giver, so please feel free to use our exciting event as way of an excuse to make a weekend of it. A weekend spent in our lovely little town, is time well spent I assure you.<br \/>\nAside from the Smithers <strong>Barn Sale<\/strong> there\u2019s always plenty going on and lots of lovely places to stay in this quaint, historical town. One of our most popular resting spots that caters extremely well for the likes of you and I (sauv\u00e9 and good looking with only the slightest air of common) to the very rich and very famous (think Judy Dench, Donald Sutherland, <strong>Alex Ferguson<\/strong> and the odd drop of royalty thrown in for good measure) is<strong> The George of Stamford<\/strong>. One of the oldest and loveliest hotels you\u2019ll ever have the pleasure of staying in that\u2019s steeped in history and where you\u2019ll discover the relaxing atmosphere is priceless, the afternoon tea is even better and the ladies toilets are amazeballs \u2013 or so I\u2019m told. Situated in the heart of the town and overlooking the meadows and banks of the <strong>River Welland<\/strong>, you\u2019ll find no greater bolt hole to explore our little town from. You may discover my Mum in there on one of the lounge sofas (one of her regular haunts \u2013 you know how these ladies like to lunch and get gently drunk of an afternoon). If she gives you any grief, just smile and nod. Love you Mum \ud83d\ude09<br \/>\n<strong>Stamford Arts Centre<\/strong> is a brilliant treasure trove of information to find out what\u2019s going on in town and with a choice of local tours, farmers markets, craft fayres, comedy nights, children\u2019s workshops and a charming little cinema on offer, there\u2019s always something to keep everyone happy \u2013 even me! I\u2019m off to the Arts Centre cinema in a week or two to see the new<strong> Eddie the Eagle film<\/strong>. It\u2019s not the place to go to see the latest blockbuster on release day, but it is one of the loveliest with just the perfect amount of nostalgia thrown in.<br \/>\nPaying a visit to the beautiful grounds of <strong>Burghley House<\/strong> is also vital to the Stamford Bucket List, but for those who really prefer the quieter side of life, we\u2019re lucky enough to have <strong>Rutland Water<\/strong> within a few minutes drive of Stamford and it\u2019s the perfect place to enjoy an indulgent picnic, a bike ride around the reservoir or simply admire the amazing wildlife found there. A stunning, renovated hotel found overlooking the Rutland shores is <strong>Barnsdale Hall Hotel<\/strong>, and it makes for a lovely, relaxing stay.<br \/>\nHave I sold it to you yet?
